November 14th Pro-D
Hello SD54 staff,
I am sending this email out after consulting with Pro-D chairperson, Kristina Willing.
On Monday, November 14th there will be several “learning supported by technology” sessions provided in the district.
Colin Cheng from Set-BC will be here to deliver two sessions on using iPads in the classroom. The morning session will be for beginners while the afternoon will delve into more in-depth topics.
Further details on these sessions and other technology topics for the day will be provided shortly.
Happy Hallowe’en!

Spam
Hello District,
This is Matthew Monkman providing you with an example of what NOT to respond to when you receive SPAM in your email.
Our exchange email system filters out a lot of SPAM but much of it is engineered to avoid detection.
Please be vigilant - DO NOT click on links in email messages; DO NOT open email attachments from senders who you do not recognize.
If you are uncertain about the legitimacy of a sender, use other methods to contact the organization to determine if they have sent a safe attachment.
I just received this message in my email and have removed the hyperlink that was embedded in it (replaced with the word Link).
Please help keep your account and the district network safe.

Spam Warning
Hello district email users,
Some of you may have received a SPAM item in your SD54 email which read:
“From: Mail Administrator
SD54 Outlook
Your SD54 Outlook Exceeded its storage limit
CLICK HERE fill and click SUBMIT for more space
Or you wont be able to send Mail.”
*** That was SPAM – do not click on it or respond to it.
*** Our Tech Dept will not send a warning of that nature asking for you to input username and password … ever.
Unfortunately at least one of you did click and respond to it – this has resulted in that individual’s email account being taken over by the Spammers to broadcast their SPAM messages.
The end result is that our mail server has now been blacklisted by some email agencies on the Net and Ted is having to work to clean it up and get our server back in good standing.
Please be cautious and never, ever, put in your username, password, bank account, credit card or other secure information in response to any email request.
