If you have any tech stuff that needs to be taken away please gather it up so that the summer student can stop by and pick it up.
Office 365 - Online
Hello all SD54 staff,
This message is to inform you that our Microsoft Licensing has changed this year to the Office 365 platform.
The Link to the Office 365 site can be found at the bottom of the “Links” menu on our SD54 page or by typing the URL: https://www.office.com
The core points of this change are as follows:
- All staff and students with an SD54 network login account can log into the Office 365 site. Account usernames must be entered as an email address: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. That is the same for staff and students even though students do not have email capabilities with this account. Access to the site gives you the opportunity to use Microsoft Office applications in an online/browser format. (i.e. All staff and students can open, create and save Microsoft Office documents on any computer or device with a browser and Internet connection).
- Most SD54 accounts will have the option of downloading and installing Microsoft Office applications to up to 5 devices at home. Accounts with this capability will display an “Install Office Apps” button in the upper right of their 365 Home Screen.
- Files created in the online applications can be saved to the Microsoft Online Drive – this drive is as secure as our own SD54 H: drive storage: (Our 365 servers are in Canada; data stored there is owned and controlled by SD54 – even Microsoft may not access stored documents without written consent of SD54). Because of this level of security, these servers meet FOIPPA restrictions and do not require special parent permission to use beyond the standard SD54 Technology Use Agreement.
- Files created in this online Microsoft environment can be shared with other users within the SD54 domain.
We will be planning training sessions around this technology throughout this school year.
Have a great weekend,
Matthew
