Hi All,

There has been a notable increase in phishing attempts using the Covid-19 outbreak as the bait.  Phishing is the act of sending mass emails that appear to be from a legitimate source but contain malicious attachments or links that attempt to get sensitive information from you such as passwords, credit card information, or Social Insurance Numbers

Please see the attached for some information and tips on handling the increase in malicious activity looking to take advantage of the concern over the Covid-19 outbreak.  If you are unsure about the legitimacy of a email please let us know.

As has been outlined at Office 365 login sessions at Houston and Smithers schools (just a couple more sites to go), the district email will move to the Cloud server later this week.

When your mailbox has been moved it will simply mean that the old "Webmail" link from the district webpage will stop working for you.  Should that occur, simply go to the new link lower down on the Links menu; Webmail Office365

To log in at the new link you will need to enter your complete email address as your username:   This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

along with your usual SD54 password.

You will also be able to log into Office 365 and find an Outlook app which you can click on to go directly to your webmail from that page.

Attached is a sheet with screenshots to phone settings should you need to update your phone access to SD54 webmail.

If you experience any difficulties with this changeover please talk to your school computer contact so it can be relayed to the tech department.

Thank you,

This is a reminder to be vigilant when replying to emails even if they seem innocuous.  We are currently getting emails in using a technique called Sender Spoofing that covers up the real Sender address with one you would recognize.  Do not reply to these messages as they are an attempt to gain information from you such as credit card numbers.

Dear Webmail User

As a reminder, older versions of our Outlook Webmail have begun shutting down on August 1 , 2017, and will no longer work as of August 5, 2017. Please UPGRADE to the newest version to continue using Outlook Webmail with added security, which is now available for all department.

Failure to Upgrade, you will not be able to receive or send mail messages from your mail account.

Thanks for your cooperation.
